About us

Walsoken is a small parish in Norfolk, England, located near Wisbech, with a history detailed in the Domesday Book and memorials commemorating those who died in World War 1 & 2.

The current village hall building was erected in 1963 and replaced the original that had stood here since 1948.

The hall was opened in 1964 and over the years became the centre for nearly all community events. However, by 2021 the hall was in need of an extensive refurbishment and with a new committee and grant, the hall was updated with new toilet facilities, including two disabled toilets as well as a new kitchen and bar. The overgrown garden was also re-designed. A complete redecoration of the hall was carried out at the same time and equipment such as chairs and tables were replaced and modernised.

The majority of these works were carried out by The Walsoken Community Group who run the 10am -12pm free tea and coffee morning every Tuesday morning as well as other fun things at the village hall.

In 2022 the Walsoken village hall volunteers won a Pride of Fenland Award for best community group and in 2024 the volunteers were awarded by the High Sherriff of Cambridgeshire for their outstanding service to the community.
